Helou! Olen Inari, yksi monesta juuri toisen opiskeluvuotensa aloittaneesta fyysikosta. Olen kotoisin pienestä (ei kovin ISOvastaavalle sopivaa :o ) kunnasta Turun ja Tampereen välistä, mutta Turussa<3 vietetty lukioaika antoi esimakua myös ISOmmassa kaupungissa asumisesta. Otaniemeen minut houkutteli punatiilen ja arkkitehtuuristen taidonnäytteiden (Smökki) lisäksi rikas teekkarikulttuuri, josta olin kuullut jo ennen itse opintojen aloittamista.
Fuksivuonna ISOt ottivat minut lämpimästi vastaan, ja koinkin kuuluvani osaksi kiltaa jo ensimmäisestä orientaatioviikon päivästä lähtien. Toivon, että jokainen fuksi saa myös tulevaisuudessa yhtä lämpimän vastaanoton, kuin minkä itse sain fuksivuonnani. ISOvastaavana pääsisin suoraan vaikuttamaan asiaan ISOkoulutusten ja muiden ISOille järjestettävien tapahtumien muodossa. On myös hyvä muistaa, että ISOtkin tarvitsevat jonkun, johon tukeutua. ISOvastaavana korostaisin myös ISOjen hyvinvointia ja arvostusta killassa, tekeväthän he ISOn ja erittäin tärkeän osan killan fuksikasvatuksesta.
ISOilussa yksi parhaista asioista ovat uudet ystävät, eritoten kanssaISOt. ISOjen välinen hyvä ryhmähenki näkyy myös suoraan fukseille, mikä puolestaan toivottavasti innostaa fuksitkin ISOilun pariin. ISOvastaavana pääsisin järjestämään ISOille erilaisia tapahtumia ja toimintaa, jossa he pääsevät tutustumaan myös toisiinsa entistä paremmin. Esimakua vastuusta ja tapahtumien järjestämisestä ovat antaneet esimerkiksi vuosi ISOneuwostossa sekä toimarirooli killan toisena abivastaavana. Kertyneestä kokemuksesta onkin hyötyä myös ISOvastaavana.
Koen, että kykyni organisoida ja aikatauluttaa asioita on ISOvastaavalle tärkeä, onhan työ melko jaksottaista ja painottuu vahvasti tiettyihin aikoihin vuodesta. Hyvin geneerinen ja käytetty, mutta sitäkin osuvampi ”tulen hyvin toimeen erilaisten ihmisten kanssa” (laittakaa tää työhakemukseen, saatte paikan 100 %) kuvaa vähemmän yllättäen myös minua. Itselleni ISOilu on tähän mennessä ollut yhtä hauskaa, ellei jopa hauskempaa, kuin syksyni fuksina. ISOvastaavana aionkin pitää huolen, että myös tulevat ISOt todellakin nauttivat ISOilusta!

Hello! I’m Inari, one of many physicists to just start their second year of studies. I’m from a small town (not very suitable for a BIG coordinator :o ) located between Turku and Tampere, but my high school years spent in Turku<3 gave me a taste of living in a BIGger city. Besides the red brick buildings and architectural masterpieces (like Smökki), one of the things that brought me to Otaniemi was the rich teekkari culture, which I had heard about even before starting my studies.
During my freshman year, I was warmly welcomed by the BIGs, and from the very first day of orientation week, I felt like I was already part of the guild. I hope that every fuksi in the future will receive the same warm welcome that I did during my fuksi year. As the BIG coordinator, I would have the opportunity to directly influence this through BIG training and other events organized for BIGs. It’s also important to remember that BIGs need someone to lean on too. As the BIG coordinator, I would also emphasize the well-being and appreciation of BIGs within the guild, as they play a BIG and important role in the fuksi training of the guild.
One of the best things about being a BIG is meeting new people, especially other BIGs. A good group spirit among the BIGs is directly reflected in fuksis, and this in turn will hopefully inspire them to become BIGs as well. As the BIG coordinator, I would get to organize various events and activities for BIGs, where they could get to know each other better. I have some experience in event organization, provided by a time in the BIGcouncil as well as an official role as one of the two student recruitment coordinators this year. The experience would definitely be beneficial for the BIG coordinator.
I believe that my ability to organize and schedule things is important for the BIG coordinator, as the work is quite heavily concentrated at certain times of the year. The very generic and often-used phrase “I get along well with different kinds of people” (put this in your job application, and you’ll get the job 100%) also, unsurprisingly, applies to me. For me, being a BIG has been just as much, if not more, fun than my fall as a fuksi. As the BIG coordinator, I would like to make sure that future BIGs also really enjoy being a BIG!
